So Apple have decided to use Intel chips in the next generation of Macs …
Apologies for being underwhelmed by this news but the insides of a Mac are of far less interest to me than the insides of a PC. Why? Because that’s why you buy a Mac, you trust Apple to pick the best hardware for the job and package it up with a fantastic operating system and that is why you fork out more money. That Apple are changing their chip supplier is not a detriment to their development and design procedures and given that Apple are not in the habit of making unnecessary changes to their systems it is obvious that the change will be of great benefit to the Mac using world. Not to mention that there will be an emulation layer for backwards compatibility.
This is not a technical decision by Apple, it seems to be purely business driven and as such can not be a bad thing.
No idea what I’m talking about?
Yeah, I was a bit surprised at the shock and surprise that greeted this news. I mean, do people really think that Apple are surging forward into some self-destructive charge? If they’re moving to Intel, they’ve probably got reasons other than the self-sacrifice of their own company.
