SOTR 2011 Speakers – the wraps are off

Almost on schedule and the immensely hard-working team behind Scotch on the Rocks have unveiled the speaker list for the 2011 conference in Edinburgh.

Amongst the usual luminaries of the CF community it’s good to see some UK community names in the list. The only problem? With that many speakers and 3 tracks I’m going to need to work double time on my self cloning technology to see all that I want to see!

  1. Rails 3 came out over the weekend, how awesome is that?!

    .. what?

  2. I don’t know – how awesome is it?

Does this mean they can finally keep Twitter online for more than half an hour at a time?

  3. haha ;)

Twitter has been off rails for a while, most frameworks (and languages) are a bad idea at that kind of scale!

  4. I know was just baiting the Rails troll within :D

Need to pick my next language to learn over the long winter months and it’s either going to be Rails Node or Clojure … getting a bit too comfy in my CF bubble!

  5. I’m playing around with server side JS and node at the moment, it’s fun to work with just suspect it’s not commercially ‘viable’ right now :(

Having another ruby/rails-fluent dev on the island would be useful..!

  6. who said anything about becoming fluent? I just learn enough to hack out a blog app and then move on :D (ading it to my CV of course)

  7. If you can hack with ruby, understand how rack works, and know what MVC is – you’re basically there anyway.

    (yay internets)
